Fitting Tribute
01 December 2009
More than 30 young brokers, half of them employed by Clarksons and half by Clarksons’ clients, attended the company’s Dry Cargo Training Course held in London last week. Overshadowed though it was by the sudden death at the beginning of the week of Jon Marshall, the senior broker responsible for the course, the event was greatly appreciated by those taking part. Lecture subjects included oil pollution, piracy and topical legal issues as well as general shipbroking practice, and there were visits to the Maritime Museum in Greenwich and the Baltic Exchange. The participants came from Genoa, Johannesburg, Piraeus, Shanghai and Singapore as well as from London. As tribute to their late colleague, Clarksons have decided that in future the course will be known as the Jon Marshall Lectures.
