Hong Kong's Links to the Sea

One of the ways in which Clarkson Hong Kong is marking its 25th anniversary this year is by helping to sponsor an impressive new book entitled 'Water Margin: Hong Kong's Link to the Sea'  by Matthew Flynn and Ocean Recovery Alliance which has just been published.  It emphasises not only the significance of Hong Kong in international shipping but also its history, including its links with the opium trade in the mid 19th century.  Its 172 pages include articles and photographs featuring the local passion for water sports, including dragon boat racing of which it is the birthplace, and wildlife; Hong Kong's forests and wetlands are home to more than 500 species of birds, for example, one third of China's total.  It also focuses on the challenges facing it from pollution and overfishing and calls for measures to combat them.
