Specialised products
Clarksons cover the spectrum of chartering of specialised products. As defined, these include petrochemical liquids and gases, 'clean' and 'dirty' oil products, lubricants, vegetable oil products, and molasses.
They are handled by teams of specialist brokers and operations staff in Clarksons' offices in Dubai, Geneva, Hamburg, Houston, London, Oslo and Singapore who also have the support of analysts dedicated to the specialised products business.
At any time of day, in any location, members of the highly experienced Specialised teams will be assisting clients with the chartering in or chartering out of a complex cargo or vessel. At one extreme, we may be fixing cargo for a 1,000dwt river barge; at another, we may be organising a parcel to be carried on a highly sophisticated, multi-grade 45,000dwt fully stainless steel parcel tanker.
The business is broken down into three main areas:
- Spot fixtures for individual cargoes, which account for a very high volume of the business;
- Contracts of Affreightment, or CoAs, particularly but not exclusively with the major oil and chemical producers in both the short sea and deep sea trades;
- Period cover, a market in which Clarksons have a wide-ranging presence with an extensive timecharter portfolio; they might range from three-month trip charters to 15-year long term arrangements.
