Shortsea
Clarksons’ shortsea and coastal broking activities are centered on four of our offices – Genoa, Hull, Ipswich and Piraeus. The size of vessels handled are mainly between 1,000 and 10,000 dwt but we are not limited to this margin and aim to continue expanding into the substantial gap between 10,000 dwt and Handysize.
Main commodities include steel, coal, animal feed, fertiliser, sugar, grain, scrap and project cargoes but we also have experience in liquids, sale and purchase, and ship management. The main markets are N. Europe, the Baltic, the Mediterranean and the Black Sea but the ever increasing demand for ‘coastal’ vessels worldwide continues to broaden horizons and experience in areas such as West Africa, Transatlantic and the Far East.
Coupled with the diverse range of commodities and routes, we provide a broad overview of the short sea market as a whole and assist the continuing development of historical data and market intelligence available to all our clients.
