Clarksons Veteran to be Lord Mayor

Clarksons, the world's leading shipping services group, is delighted that one of its longest serving employees Jeffrey Mountevans has been elected Lord Mayor of the City of London for the year 2015-2016.

Jeffrey, who succeeded to the title of Lord Mountevans earlier this year, joined Clarksons as a graduate trainee in 1972 and has spent his career with the Group. Jeffrey has worked in the Gas Department for the majority of his career, joining the Board in 1989 and serving as the Gas Division's Managing Director from 2001 to 2014.

Jeffrey takes up the role as London's 688th Lord Mayor on 13 November 2015.  One of the Lord Mayor's key roles is to promote London and the UK's business and social interests in the City.  Given the current UK Government's support for shipping and Clarksons' position as the world's largest shipbroker, Jeffrey is in an ideal position to promote London as a shipping centre overseas.

Commenting on his appointment Jeffrey Evans said: "I am honoured to take this prestigious position representing London around the globe as the premier venue to trade, especially given that I have spent my career and a large part of my leisure time in the shipping industry. My experience working at Clarksons will undoubtedly stand me in good stead as I promote London as an international shipping hub."

Andi Case, CEO of Clarksons, commented, "Jeffrey has been a valued member of the successful Clarksons' team for more than 40 years and I can think of no one more qualified for this important job. His understanding of, and dedication to, both shipping and the City is unique and we look forward to supporting him in promoting the City of London and British business around the world."
