The people we do business with
We are the world's leading provider of integrated shipping services with over 5,000 clients globally, including charterers, vessel owners, trust funds and ship agents. Our market-leading technology and intelligence sets us apart, allowing us to influence client decisions at every step of the shipping lifecycle and form the trusted client partnerships that drive our business. We engage clients via meetings and presentations, client forums, client feedback and input into product development, social media and our website.
Enhancing our service offering
Across 2021 we continued to enhance our client offering. We launched the Green Transition team to work with clients on understanding evolving regulations and broader decarbonisation strategies. We continued to invest in and develop digital solutions that support decision-making and offer digitised reports to make data more readily accessible.
Our employees are our biggest asset
We currently have over 1,700 employees across 52 offices in 23 countries. We continually strive to engage, develop and retain our people using a combination of approaches including leadership and divisional management forums, our Employee Voice Forum, global conferences, active management, our internal communications channel (Voyage), social media channels, digital platforms and social and networking opportunities.
Supporting next generation talent
We rolled out new training and development and cross-business collaboration on key market developments around digitalisation and new service offerings. This supported our continued focus on leading with compassion and empathy, and enhanced our focus on management and leadership skills and competencies.
The communities in which we operate around the world
Our stakeholders include the shipping community, industry-related partnerships and the wider communities in which we operate. We strive to have a positive and lasting impact on our communities because we believe that behaving in a socially responsible way is the right thing to do. We engage our communities via publications and our database, sharing expertise and knowledge through participation in industry forums, as well as employee directorships of shipping-related boards, industry partnerships, volunteering, charitable donations and the use of social media.
Driving awareness of the fuel transition
As a way-finder for our industry, 2021 saw Clarksons remain committed to educating our stakeholders and partners in changing regulations as well as continuing to develop strategies to support the green transition across shipping. Over the last 12 months we have further strengthened our support of previously-established industry partnerships.
New Board appointments
Following a rigorous independent search process, Laurence Hollingworth was appointed Chair of the Board. He brings with him extensive experience in the capital markets and a strong understanding of the broking environment. We also enhanced the technology experience on the Board with the appointment of an additional Non-Executive Director.
