Authorisation of Clarkson Investment Services by the Dubai Financial Services Authority

Clarksons, the world's leading shipping services group, is delighted to announce that Clarksons Investment Services has received regulatory consent to operate in Dubai from the Dubai Financial Services Authority ("DFSA"). Clarksons Investment Services now operates from Dubai, London, Houston and New Orleans.

Clarksons continues to leverage its specialist knowledge of the global shipping markets and international client base to develop its investment services business, which offers a broad range of financial advisory services, including merger and acquisition advice, restructuring advice, private and public placements of equity, debt placements and Islamic finance. In September 2008 the Group received regulatory consent in the UK for this newly established business and in February concluded a joint venture with Johnson Rice & Co. LLC, based in New Orleans, to service the US market.

The Group is also pleased to announce that John Sinders will be joining Clarksons as Senior Executive Officer of Clarksons Investment Services Dubai and will work along side Andrew Meigh, Managing Director of CIS in London. John is a highly experienced investment banker, with over 20 years industry experience, having pioneered investment banking for shipping companies in the United States. Previously with Jefferies, where he was Head of the Shipping & Oil Services Group, John also spent a number of years in Offshore Oilservices investment banking as the head of the Energy Group at Howard Weil in the United States and later as Co-Global Head of Energy Banking at the Royal Bank of Canada.

John is the latest addition to the Clarksons Investment Services global team of professionals in Dubai, London and New Orleans, USA.
