Raising awareness of men’s health at Clarksons Charity Giving Day

Share

Clarksons annual Charity Giving Day took place last week with an important goal to raise awareness of men’s health. On behalf of The Clarkson Foundation, efforts were aligned to support the leading global men’s health charity, Movember, who focus on prostate cancer, testicular cancer and mental health support.

Starting a conversation

This year’s theme was inspired by colleagues within Clarksons who had recently overcome health challenges and wanted to raise awareness with others. We were able to use charity giving day as a platform for them to share their experiences: starting a conversation about prioritising regular health checks, seeking support and living healthier lifestyles.

Engagement across our global offices was fantastic, with hundreds of employees accessing information and videos to deepen their understanding of men’s health issues. To help make health checks more accessible and normalise proactive screening, free PSA tests were offered to men in the London office over 40. PSA tests can detect the early signs of prostate cancer through measuring the level or prostate-specific antigens in your blood.

Getting competitive

Charity giving day at Clarksons wouldn’t be complete without a competitive sporting challenge to get the heart rate pumping to help raise money for a worthy cause. This year, 42 teams of four people across nine global office locations took part in “Quadrox” – three rounds of hyrox inspired exercises. The team who completed the most reps would win the title! Throughout the challenge the leaderboard remained fiercely competitive. First, second and third place went to teams in the Oslo office – congratulations!

A special mention goes to Singapore and the London central teams who exceeded their fundraising targets. Donations from Clarksons employees totalled £27,000. Fundraising for Movember will ensure the charity can continue to unite experts from around the world to collaborate on projects that will fundamentally change the way men in need are treated and supported.

Supporting causes that are close to our hearts

Foundation Trustee, Dharani Sridharan commented:

“The Clarkson Foundation supports a range of different causes. This year it was an honour to support a charity that represented the interests of Clarksons colleagues who had recently overcome health challenges and had a desire to raise awareness to others about regular health checks.”

“We want to thank everyone who engaged and took part — it was a truly fantastic initiative and a great demonstration of the shared values that bring everyone together, so we can go even further to support the incredible causes and projects that the Foundation supports.”
