Clarksons expands to west coast South America with the acquisition of Peru-based Serpac
Clarkson PLC (Clarksons) is pleased to announce the acquisition of the shipbroking business of Serpac International SAC (Serpac), based in Peru. The acquisition reflects the demand from a growing client-base across west coast South America as it becomes an increasingly significant gateway for trade flows with Asia.
Based in Lima, Serpac brings over 50 years of experience in the shipping industry and has a strong reputation built on deep client relationships and local market insight. The team of six who will join Clarksons primarily cover the Dry Bulk market and will continue to operate under the leadership of Andrew Hardy, who will remain Managing Director and play a central role in growing the service offering in response to evolving demands across Peru and Chile.
“Joining Clarksons is a tremendous opportunity for our clients and our team. With access to deeper insight, broader services and global resources, we can continue to nurture the long standing relationships we hold with clients while exploring new connections across a broader geography.”
Andrew Hardy
Managing Director, Serpac“The acquisition of Serpac’s broking division marks another important step in our strategy. Andrew’s leadership, and the strong relationships he and his team have established along the west coast of South America, underlines our long-term commitment to the region.
Peru and Chile are emerging as significant trade hubs connecting South America to Asia, supported by infrastructure developments that will enable the region to scale. With an expanded on-the-ground presence, backed by our own tools for trade, we believe this furthers our combined ability to support clients as trade routes evolve and market dynamics continue to shift. We are delighted to welcome Andrew and his team and look forward to building on this momentum together.”
