Demeter Energy engages Clarksons to provide biomethanol broking services

Share

Clarksons Norway AS will provide Demeter Energy, with commercial advisory and brokerage services supporting the marketing, sale and offtake of approximately 100,000 metric tons per year of low-carbon biomethanol from Demeter Energy's planned commercial-scale biomethanol and carbon capture facility at SeaPort Manatee in Bradenton, Florida.

Under the agreement, Clarksons will provide commercial market intelligence, pricing and freight analysis, regulatory guidance, introductions to prospective buyers and logistics counterparties, and broking and negotiation support for commercial transactions involving Demeter Energy's low-carbon products.

"Clarksons brings extensive knowledge of global shipping, marine fuels and international commodity markets, together with relationships across the maritime sector. Their expertise will strengthen our ability to engage prospective customers and establish long-term offtake relationships for Demeter's low-carbon biomethanol."

Expanding Global Market Access

The scope includes FOB versus delivered-price benchmarking, freight-cost modeling across relevant trade corridors, market intelligence regarding prospective buyers and commercial structures, and regulatory monitoring covering FuelEU Maritime, the IMO Net Zero Framework, RED III and the EU Emissions Trading System.

Clarksons will also facilitate introductions to shipowners, traders and logistics counterparties through its global network and provide broking and negotiation support for the marketing, sale and offtake of Demeter Energy's low-carbon products.

"The maritime industry's transition toward lower-carbon fuels is creating growing interest in scalable, credible sources of low-carbon methanol. We look forward to working with Demeter Energy to support the commercial development of the SeaPort Manatee project and connect its planned biomethanol production with customers across the global shipping and energy markets."

Divisional Director for Specialised Products

Through a number of dedicated verticals, Clarksons’ commitment to decarbonising the maritime sector is underpinned by a combination of broking expertise and wider global capabilities in renewable energy, LCO₂ and greener shipping advisory, delivering market-leading insight and specialist support.

Advancing Toward Final Investment Decision

The Clarksons agreement represents another key commercial milestone as Demeter Energy continues to advance the SeaPort Manatee project toward Final Investment Decision. The planned facility is being developed to produce approximately 100,000 metric tons of low-carbon biomethanol annually and capture approximately 200,000 metric tons of biogenic carbon dioxide per year, helping to meet growing demand for low-carbon marine fuels, sustainable aviation fuel feedstocks and low-carbon chemical products. As the first commercial-scale development in Demeter Energy's broader strategy, the project will support the establishment of a low-carbon biomethanol and carbon management platform across the Southeastern United States.
